Security

The Security course consists of a series of pre-recorded videos, available from Friday 30 April 2021.

In addition, you also need to complete some ticked exercises by Friday 28 May 2021 12:00. These are available starting Friday 7 May 2021.

There is also a Microsoft Teams chat channel for this course and you may find me on Zoom during my office hour on Monday and Friday 15:00 if you have any questions.

Study materials

Note: Many of the recordings are from last year, however I've removed section 3 (slides 9–15) this year. The resulting numbering gap is intentional, to stay in sync with the slide numbers visible in the recordings.

Practical tick

Prerequisites for the tick exercises: Please make sure that you are familiar with the Unix Tools course. Familiarity with Unix/Linux command-line tools is required for parts of the ticked practical exercise. Likewise, please review basic SQL syntax, in particular SELECT, UNION, INSERT, UPDATE, e.g. as used by SQLite/MySQL/PostgreSQL. Some of the exercises will involve a provided Linux ISO boot image for an x86_64 computer, which you can run e.g. in VirtualBox on most x86_64 computers.
