Computer Laboratory Student wins
2008 Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations to Silvia Breu who has been awarded a €5000 Anita Borg scholarship for the 2008–2009 academic year.

Nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 31 countries applied for the award. Of the 63 finalists selected, 20 received a scholarship.

Another Computer Laboratory student to reach the finals, Emma Burrows, received a €1,000 award.

The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship is given annually by Google to recognize outstanding young women scholars in computer science and related fields.

The scholarship was founded to honour the work of Dr Anita Borg, a computer scientist who dedicated her professional career to increasing the participation of women and other under-represented minorities in the field of technology.
