Arthur Norman’s last lecture
Today marked another landmark in Computer Science in Cambridge –
Arthur Norman gave his last lecture (after continuing to lecture past
his retirement).
Arthur was appointed to a lectureship in 1980 and is consistently
remembered as one of the more entertaining lecturers.
It is perhaps fitting, in the year that the Diploma in Computer
Science closes, to see that the class lists for 1970 show that a
certain “A.C. Norman” scored a distinction in the self-same diploma.
