End User Programming

Alan Blackwell

End User Programming systems aim to give some programmable system functionality to people who are not professional programmers. Cambridge University is one of the partners in a European Network of Excellence on End User Development. A major current project, in collaboration with Microsoft Research Cambridge, is investigating the enhancement of Microsoft Excel with improved facilities by which end users can create user-defined functions within the spreadsheet grid itself (rather than by writing Visual Basic code).
