- Written take-home assignment about part 1, comprising 20% of the total mark. Due: Monday 18 February, 16:00
- Three programming assignments, each comprising 10% of the mark.
- Assignment 1 – Due: Monday 11 February, 16:00
- Assignment 2 – Due: Monday 25 February, 16:00
- Assignment 3 – Due: Monday 11 March, 16:00
Individual implementation project with 8-page written report, topic agreed with and supervised by lecturer, comprising 50% of the mark. Report due: Monday 29 April, 16:00
Some example project ideas:
- Detection and relative phase measurement of GPS signals
- Reconstruction of displayed text from electromagnetic emissions of an HDMI video cable
- Separation of two voices from a two-channel audio recording using independent component analysis (cocktail-party problem)
- Implementation and evaluation of the Remez exchange algorithm
- Implementation of an offline decoder for some radio communications protocol.
- Estimation of antenna position (“hyperbolic navigation”) from measuring the phase difference of three radio-time signals (e.g. MSF, DCF77, BBC LF radio data)
- Implementation of a detector for double JPEG compression
- Implementation of a basic spread-spectrum radar
