Department of Computer Science and Technology

Miscellany

This is the page where I put all of the other things that I don't want to dedicate a whole page to! Below are details of my background, outreach and other activities.

Background

Before my current fellowship I held a Research Fellowship jointly from the UK's Royal Academy of Engineering and EPSRC. I spent 2010 at Harvard working with David Brooks and his research team. Prior to joining Cambridge, I was part of the Compiler and Architecture Design Group at the University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics.

Outreach

I'm on the Computer Lab's outreach committee, organising events to widen participation in Computer Science and encourage enthusiasm in the subject. The most recent event we organised was the week-long Sutton Trust Summer School in the Lab where students learnt how to code in Python (or sharpened their skills if they knew the language already), learnt various forms of algorithm, computer architecture and image processing, experienced a Cambridge supervision and attended several guest lectures on a variety of subjects. For more information on the events we run, see the Lab's outreach page.

Other Activities

As a bit of light relief, I'm a governor my local primary school.
