- Written take-home assignment, comprising 20% of the
total mark.
Start: Wednesday 9 November 2022, 16:00 – Due: Friday 11 November 2022, 16:00 Assignment 4 – research/implementation project with written report (≤4000 words, ≤12 pages), comprising 50% of the mark.
Start: Monday 28 November 2022, 12:00 – Report due: Tuesday 17 January 2023, 16:00Students have a choice from two project topics:
- Reconstruction of displayed text from electromagnetic emissions of a digital video cable. Students are provided with a recording of the electromagnetic emissions of a digital video cable of a computer, and have to reconstruct an approximation of the image displayed on that computer.
- Implementation of a detector for prior JPEG compression. Students are provided with some example images and have to determine if, how and how often they have been JPEG compressed in their previous processing history.
Individual topic: Students keen to explore another project idea related to the course topics can offer a proposal by emailing and meeting the lecturer by 9 December 2022.
