The Altera Quartus Tools

The Altera Quartus tools are used to synthesize the Verilog designs for these practical sessions. If you wish to run the tools on your own machine, a free web edition of the tools is available from Altera: http://www.altera.com/products/software/quartus-ii/web-edition/qts-we-index.html. The web edition is reasonably full-featured though it lacks some performance enhancements like incremental compilation for synthesis. But this should not be a problem since in these labs. we aim to do more simulation in order to remove the need for lots of synthesis runs.
