ACS P35 Michaelmas Vacation Preparation

Preparatory Work: Ideally, please become familar with the following material over the Michaelmas Vacation so that it can be covered rapidly in the first week of the Lent Term.

  • Please read through this slide pack VACATION SLIDE PACK. Please only pay close attention to the SystemC material in this pack. All of the material will be covered in detail, during the term-time sessions. However, I ask people to read the slides and supporting papers before the timetabled slots so that we can have increased interactive discussion during the sessions.

  • Recommended book: Transaction-Level Modeling with SystemC: TLM Concepts and Applications for Embedded Systems' by Frank Ghenassia. Published Springer 2010.

  • Recommended book: System Design with SystemC by Grotket, Liao, Martin and Swan. Published Springer.

  • Recommended browsing: SoC Design and Modelling Patterns by DJ Greaves, (PDF). Some of this material will be lectured as part of the P35 ACS module but most of it is lecture notes given to undergraduates in recent years.

  • Make sure you have some confidence with the System On Chip Undergraduate Exam Questions.

Tool Setup - Practical Get Started

  • First set up paths for SystemC (and perhaps as many other tools as you can) following advice from TOOL INFO

  • Then run the first, get-you-started example
    systemc-helloworld
described on the Tool Info page and also on this LINK.

  • You do not have to give anything in at this stage.
