Open Days and Events
Websites and prospectuses are great for gathering information on degree courses, but there really is no substitute for meeting the lecturers in person and exploring student life yourself. Each year we participate in a range of events that give you the opportunity to quiz those involved in running the computer science course at Cambridge and to pick up a cube for our competition.
Open Days
The University of Cambridge has two major open days each year, and the Computer Science department actively participates. In 2012, the open days are on 5th and 6th of July 2012. The Computer Laboratory will be putting on a series of subject talks and demonstrations of student projects and faculty research. Visitors also have the chance to speak one-to-one with Directors of Studies for Computer Science, as well as explore Cambridge.
Everyone is welcome at our open days, including students of any level, parents, guardians, and teachers. If you have any queries, feel free to email us as cs-cubed@cl.cam.ac.uk. Details of how to find us can be found on the Contact Us page.
Oxford and Cambridge Regional Conferences 2012
The University holds a series of regional conferences with Oxford each year. Computer Science has a dedicated presentation slot in Leicester, Cardiff, London, Newcastle and Merseyside. The dates for the 2012 conferences have yet to be announced, but they will appear here as soon as they have been confirmed.
If you can't easily travel to one of these venues, or the venue is fully booked, you will still be able to download the presentation from this website when it is available. In the meantime, you might like to take a look at the presentation from last year on the Downloads page.
The Competition
Each year we run a competition for UK school students. This year we asked students to put together a puzzle and use it to answer some mathematical questions. We received over 350 correct answers. The prizes included a PS3, two Kindles, ten computer games, and ten t-shirts or sweatshirts. Watch this space for more information on next year's competition, which will be announced in February 2012.
