Conferences and How They really Work

In this talk I will give a sketch of the behind-the-scenes
activities involved in a running conference, from selection of chairs,
program committee, and site, through CfP announcement and papre
submissions, reviewing, notification, right up til that moment when
you stand in front of a huge audience of your peers to present 3 years
work in 20 minutes and have someone ask that awkard question that
brings it all tumbling down in 30 seconds, or not.
No students were harmed in the making of this talk.
