I am a Research Associate working in the Digital Technology Group (DTG) which sits within Computer Laboratory. I am currently working on the Rutherford Physics Project developing innovative approaches to content delivery.

Prior to joining the research group I worked for BAE Systems Detica as a Senior Consultant based in London. During this role, I worked on a number of government projects. The most public project I worked on was the Get Ahead of the Games project, a London 2012 travel advice website, and the new Transport for London web site API. Prior to this, I worked as a lecturer in Computing at West Suffolk College / University Campus Suffolk teaching full time on a range of Level 3 and undergraduate programmes of study.

Research

My research interests include technology enhanced learning, knowledge management, Web 2.0, Folksonomies, Ontologies, security and privacy.

Current Research Projects

Past Research Projects:

  • North East XCRI Test-bed (NEXT) - I worked as an RA during a phase of the project which aimed to share postgraduate training course specifications using an open standard.
  • SoftWare Assessment Through Tagging (SWATT) - A project for my PhD, working on using Web 2.0 style tags as a mechanism for generating feedback to students on programming assignments.
  • Tanfield Mark Tracking System - This project involves empowering students in a local school to simulate changes to their coursework marks and see how it effects their overall course grades. The project was looking at how students simulations related to teacher set target grades and actual attainment.

Teaching

For all my supervisions, I use the Computer Lab's otter supervision management tool for booking and distributing work. If any of my supervisees require any extra help or information please feel free to contact me. My availability for meetings can be found here.
