  • Affective Computing (2016/2017). A module offered during the Michaelmas term for students doing MPhil in Advanced Computing. The aim of this module is to impart knowledge and ability needed to make informed choices of models, data, and techniques for sensing, recognition, and expression of human affective and social behaviour (e.g., smile, frown, head nodding/shaking, agreement/disagreement), and its use in the design of innovative interactive technology (e.g., interaction with virtual agents, robots, and games; single and multi-user smart environments, e.g., in a car; implicit (multimedia) tagging; clinical and biomedical studies, e.g., autism, depression, pain).
  • Interaction Design (2016/2017). A module offered during the Easter term for 1st year undergraduate students. The aim of this module is to provide an introduction to interaction design, with an emphasis on understanding and experiencing the user interface design process from requirements and data gathering to implementation and evaluation, while gaining an understanding of the background to human factors. This course focuses equally on design and implementation.

  • Graphical User Interfaces (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). A second semester course for second year undergraduates and optionally for MScIT students. The focus is on understanding and experiencing the user interface design process from requirements to evaluation, and gaining an understanding of the psychological background to human factors. I am co-teaching this module with Dr. Nick Bryan-Kinns .
  • Website Design and Authoring Tools (2013, 2014). A first semester course for second year undergraduate students. This module aims to examine the art of good design, applied to web sites through both theory and practice.
  • Introduction to Computer Vision (2012). A first semester course for EECS MSc students. The focus is on theoretical and empirical knowledge of the computer vision principles, from its foundations to applications. The module covers core concepts such as light and colour, image formation, image filtering, image transformations, feature extraction, motion estimation, object representation, tracking, region and object segmentation. These concepts are put into application with several supervised lab exercises. I am co-teaching this module with Prof. Andrea Cavallaro .
  • Research Methods 2 (2012). A second semester Advanced MSc course which aims to give students a chance to develop their academic practice through poster design and presentation, and the production of a short conference paper. I am co-teaching this module with Dr. Tassos Tombros .
