This is the web site associated with the monograph, “Computer Systems: Theory, Technology and Applications”, edited by Andrew Herbert and Karen Spärck Jones, and published by Springer-Verlag, in December 2003.

The monograph contains papers written in tribute to Roger Needham in recognition of his distinguished career and presented to him at an event called “50+5” in celebration of Roger Needham’s fiftieth year in Cambridge and fifth year as the Managing Director of Microsoft’s research laboratory in Cambridge.

In addition there are links to an informal memoir of Roger written by Karen Spärck Jones and to two out-of-print books which Roger co-authored. The first, entitled “The Cambridge CAP Computer and Its Operating System,” was written jointly with Maurice Wilkes and published by North Holland in 1979. The second, entitled, “The Cambridge Distributed Computer System” written jointly with Andrew Herbert and published by Addison Wesley in 1982.
