IFIP WG 11.3 Conference,  2002

Final programme

[ See the programme for  Sunday,   Monday,   Tuesday,   Wednesday ]

The main Porters' Lodge of King's College is on King's Parade, see instructions on what to do on arrival in Cambridge.

Delegate information packs and room keys can be collected from the Conference Office, next to the Coffee Bar on A staircase - the porter on duty will give directions.  The Conference Office is open from 2 pm to 8.30 pm on Sunday July 28th.

Delegates who reach Cambridge outside those times should collect their room key from the Porters' Lodge; the Lodge is open 24 hours per day (between 11 pm and 6 am please ring the night bell).

Bar open  (including coffee service)

Informal buffet  (including wine)

The bar will close at 2030. King's College is in the centre of Cambridge, within 5 minutes walk of a number of traditional (and less traditional) pubs. The closest is the Eagle: go out of the college past the Porter's Lodge, turn right, and the Eagle is 30 metres up the first street on the left (Bene't Street). As its name suggests the Mill is right on the river, with plenty of room on the grass to sit and drink as you watch the ducks go by, ideal on a pleasant summer's evening.

Monday July 29th

24 papers have been selected for the conference, which will be presented in three sessions of 4 papers and four sessions of 3 papers. See the details of the sessions.

The afternoon will be free, but some delegates may wish to take advantage of the opportunity to see Cambridge. Immediately after lunch there will be a guided tour of the College Chapel, to which all delegates and their partners are invited (there will be three guides, leading groups starting at 2.0, 2.10 and 2.20, meet at the north entrance). If the weather is good we shall go onto the roof of the Chapel, from where there are outstanding views of the city and the surrounding country (on a clear day it's possible to see Ely Cathedral, 15 miles to the north across the Fens). For those who have already booked there is a tour of some of the other parts of Cambridge with an official guide. There will be two guides, leading groups starting from the Porters' Lodge at 3.40 and 3.50 - this will give an opportunity to see some of the less well-known colleges away from the river.

In the evening at 6.15 we shall take a chauffeured punt trip down the river, starting and finishing from the Back Lawn of the College. The route will take us past the famous "Backs" (of the colleges that lie along the river), which are best seen in this way. We shall return to King's for a barbecue picnic in Bodley's Court, which overlooks the river (in the Hall if wet! - but the punt trip is at the mercy of the weather).
