CEA - Cambridge Event Architecture
Our early work on the Cambridge Event Architecture (CEA) extended the then-predominant, object-oriented middleware (CORBA and Java) with a publish, register, notify paradigm.
CEA events were typed to support the programming of distributed, event-based applications.
Some of the work on CEA was funded by EPSRC grants. Follow the links below for a description of the work including reports and overview foils.
- Active Systems (EPSRC grant GR/77068, 1995-98) ;
- Global Computing using Events (EPSRC grant GR/M22413, 1998-2001) .
Here is an event library called ODLCOBEA for free download. ODL is ODMGs Object Definition Language which subsumes CORBA IDL.
We also built an application using the CEA: Active House
CEA was used in the Home Area Network project.
