    M. Tech Thesis

    Software defined networking(SDN) based controller for Wireless LAN
    M. Tech Project, Guide: Prof. Abhay Karandikar (June 2015 - June 2016)
    o Worked as an equal member of a five person team to implement a WLAN Controller that uses CAPWAP tunnel to communicate with APs(access points) running Openwrt.
    o Implemented applications at controller to communicate with AP following IEEE 802.11 and CAPWAP RFC bindings.
    o Designed and architecture for SDN based WLAN controller.
    o Setup WLAN testbed and demonstrated a prototype of SDN based WLAN controller.
    o Contributed towards standardisation of protocol for central management of WLAN by proposing and working on work item in TSDSI.
    o My thesis was extnded further to be proposed and accepted as PAR in IEEE SDN group as P1930.1. I am currently contributing to the standard as a work group member

  • Overview of mobility management and inter-cell interference co-ordination(ICIC) in heterogeneous cellular networks
  • M.Tech seminar, Guide: Prof. Abhay Karandikar(September 2013- December 2013)
    o Study of 3GPP LTE handover procedure and effect of various handover parameters.
    o Survey of various ICIC techniques and study of a mobility based enhanced ICIC technique. [Report]

  • Extensions to TDD LTE simulator written in MATLAB
  • R&D project, Guide: Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Collaborator: Dr. Mahima Mehta(January 2014- May 2014)
    o Implemented a 2x2 MIMO, adaptive modulation technique (abstraction of PHY layer) in TDD LTE simulator.
    o Also implemented HARQ in TDD LTE simulator and compared throughput of HARQ and non HARQ transimissions by simulation.

  • Analysis of TCP performance for different network parameters
  • Course: (Advanced) Computer Networks, Instructor: Prof. Mythili Vutukuru (August 2014 - September 2014)
    o Studied the performance of TCP for different value of RTT, queue size, error rate and bottleneck bandwidth
    o Studied different variants of TCP using ns3 simulations and live packet captures.

  • Building a Virtual Private Network
  • Course: (Advanced) Computer Networks, Instructor: Prof. Mythili Vutukuru, Collaborator: Gaurang Naik (September 2014 - October 2014)
    o Created a Virtual Private Network setup with two islands of private IP address spaces transparently connected over another network using iptable rules and tun/tap devices.
    o Implemented single-process, multi-process and multi-threaded servers and established client-server communication using C socket programming.

  • Analyzing BGP Routing Tables
  • Course: (Advanced) Computer Networks, Instructor: Prof. Mythili Vutukuru, Collaborator: Gaurang Naik (September - November 2014)
    o Analyzed RouteView's BGP Routing Table to determine unique Autonomous Systems and IP prefixes in the Internet.
    o Used an algorithm from this paper for inferring customer-provider AS relationships.

  • Analysis of two sided market, net neutrality and provide comments based on study for the questions posed in TRAI document "Consultation paper on Regulatory Framework for OTT services"
  • Course: Advanced data networks, Instructor: Prof. D Manjunath (July 2015 - December 2015)
    o Studied effects of "charging for OTT services" on operators, users and also OTT applications providers using a model proposed by Walrand et al.
    o Provided answers for a subset of questions posed in TRAI document on OTT based on the study.
