Research support

These pages list the various funding sources available for research projects, fellowships, meetings and travel, industrial collaboration, and commercialisation.

Current open funding opportunities include:

  • Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships Three-year fellowships for those within five years of their PhD. The Trust contributes 50% of salary costs plus £6K towards research expenses. The Leverhulme deadline is 10th March. For applicants from Cambridge, the Isaac Newton Trust (INT) contributes the remaining 50% of funding. Potential applicants must apply to the INT and have agreed match funding from them in place before applying to the Leverhulme scheme. The INT closing date is 22nd January. Prior to that there is internal departmental assessment, with a closing date of 18th January. If you need more information, ask Andrea.
  • Alan Turing Institute Fellowships Three year fellowships (with the potential for a further two year renewal) at the ATI in London for early career researchers with a PhD in data science or a related discipline. Closes 20th December.

There is also general information on preparing an application, and some hints and tips for constructing impact statements.

When it comes to publishing your work, you can find information here about open access, open data and other funder and related requirements.

Potential collaborators can find information about setting up a research collaboration.
