Library Closure

We regret that due to space constraints the Computer Laboratory will be closing the library, and in future the School of Technology libraries team will be responsible for library provision within Computer Science. Ultimately, parts of the collection and an enquiry point will be available from the Shared Facilities Hub which is currently under construction on the West Cambridge Site. Opening is currently expected for Autumn 2021.

In the interim we are committed to providing as much of a service as circumstances permit. Although exact details are not known, and may change due to the pandemic we hope to offer the following:

Teaching resources

The existing books to support undergraduate teaching, principally the Booklocker, but including other items on the reading list, will remain available in the Computer Laboratory.

Library collections

The remainder of the library's collections will be taken into temporary storage. Some resources for Computer Science will be available in other Cambridge libraries, especially the Betty and Gordon Moore Library. Some of the Computer Laboratory's collections may be available here too.

Enquiry service

The Librarian, Nicholas Cutler, will continue to provide an enquiry service and support Computer Science students. You can continue to contact Nicholas by e-mail, and once the situation permits, in person. New students may also find the following induction useful.

We thank you for for support of the library over the previous years and look forward to continuing to provide a library service to computer scientists.
