                      Nicholls State University

Position: The Department of Computer Science of Nicholls State University
invites applications for two (2) tenure-track positions at the rank of
Assistant Professor. These positions are contingent on available funds.

Qualifications: Strong commitment to quality undergraduate education. Proven
teaching experience as evidenced by a portfolio consisting of a statement on
personal teaching philosophy and techniques, syllabi of courses developed
or taught, and samples of tests, assignments and projects. Promise in research
as evidenced by an initial publication record. Must be willing and qualified
to teach theory-oriented courses that require strong skills in mathematics
and science. Non-native English speakers must demonstrate excellent oral and
written communication skills.

Duties: Nine hours per semester with at most three preparations. Advising of
students. Participation in departmental and university committees.
Participation in departmental assessment activities. Dedication to teaching
is considered primary. Research is expected.

Salary: Competitive, depending on qualifications.

Starting Date: Fall 1995
