Subject: NIL undefined Error (update)
Date: Tue, 31 Jan 1995 14:25:57 -0700
From: Phil Windley <windley@lal.cs.byu.edu>

A few days ago I posted some code saying that it produced a "NIL Undefined"
error on AKCL (GCL) under HPUX 9.05. No one else was able to reproduce the
error using AKCL or other Lisps. I didn't hear from anyone running on an
HP, so I will conclude, for now, that the problem is the AKCL port for the
HP's *or* the HP C compiler. I tried to compile GCL using gcc on the HP's
but couldn't so I can't rule out the compiler. Thanks to everyone who ran
the example and sent back results.

Lucid CL is hard to get a hold of anymore. Harlequin is selling it, but
needs to set up an arrangement with HP before they can ship. Allegro will
sell, but HOL is so slow with Allegro. Has anyone ever used LispWorks to
build HOL (or, more importantly, tried and failed)?

A bigger question: will HOL90 ever work with HPs?
