Subject: Whoops! (was problem building hol90 on Decstation5000/200)
Message-ID: <"swan.cl.cam.:139460:940616060501"@cl.cam.ac.uk>

Sorry about my blunder, but my problem described in my earlier message
had nothing to do with hol90 itself. The problem is, on decstations, the
user must have read permissions on _all_ directories in the path to the
current directory for System.Directory.getwd() to work. This includes
symbolic links. Our system administrator here created symbolic links with
the permission mask 700, owned by root. While this didn't cause problems
normally, getwd failed with the uncaught exception SystemCall.

Thanks to those who attempted responses.
