This has been brought up before.  At sometime I suppose that it makes sense
to create a newsgroup.  Certainly the biggest advantage is that we'd get
drop in customers who just wanted to browse the newsgroup.  The biggest
disadvantage is that there are a number of people on the list who do not
have access to news.  

There are a number of alternatives including gatewaying the list ot a
newgroup, etc.  One that many sites with large numbers of HOL users use is
to create a local newsgroup for HOL and then gate the list into it.  A more
personal solution is to use a smarter mail handler such as MH which allows
you to automatically file mail messages according to various criteria.
You can even use your news reader to read the mail folders (if you use the
right one ;-) and give yourself the illusion of having a HOL newsgroup!

I'm happy to keep doing the mailing list.  I'd be happy to look into
establishing a newsgroup if that's what people want.  If you feel strongly,
one way or the other, why don't you send me an email message (rather than
the list) and I'll summarize the results.
