Proposal to Host the 1993 HOL User's Group Meeting
--------------------------------------------------

Location
--------

The Coeur D'Alene Resort and Conference Center, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho

Organizers
----------

Phil Windley, Jim Alves-Foss and other members of the Laboratory for
Applied Logic, Department of Computer Science, University of Idaho.

Transportation
--------------

The Coeur D'Alene Resort Conference center is an easy 30 miles East of
Spokane, Washington on US Interstate 195 (80 miles north of the University
of Idaho on US Highway 95). Spokane International Airport servers several
major carriers with easy connections to all major international airports.
The resort provides transportation from Spokane airport for a modest fee.

Lodging
-------

The Coeur D'Alene Resort hotel has rooms available for conference
participants. Numerous motels and bed and breakfasts are also located
throughout the resort town of Coeur D'Alene.

Support
-------

As was done for the 1992 meeting, we will seek sponsorship from
organizations such as IEEE and ACM. We will also seek financial assistance
for students with travel stipends of at least $500 per student for travel
expenses.

Schedule
--------

The workshop will be held in Summer of 1993. We propose a 1-day tutorial
and 3-day workshop similar to the format for HOL 91 in Davis.

Local Highlights
----------------

Come to Idaho for the workshop and stay for a vacation!

The Coeur D'Alene Resort is a world class resort located on Lake Coeur
D'Alene in Northern Idaho. In 1990, The Coeur D'Alene Resort was ranked
the number one resort location in the world by readers of The Conde' Nast
TRAVLER magazine. The resort offers three lounges, an indoor recreation
center, golf course (with the world's only floating green), an on--site
marina, horseback riding, tennis, seaplane rides, parimutual greyhound
racing, fishing charters, boat rentals, hiking, and parasailing.

Idaho is home to the largest wilderness area in the continental US and
numerous opportunities exist for hiking, camping, and fishing. The
University of Idaho Outdoor Recreation Center rents camping and other
outdoor equipment for a reasonable charge.

If there is enough interest we will set up a white water rafting expedition
on the Salmon River through the auspices of the University of Idaho Outdoor
Recreation Program. Sturgeon and steelhead fishing expeditions on the
Snake River can also be arranged (a sturgeon is an ocean going fish that
reach lengths of 10 feet and weighs several hundred pounds; a steelhead is
an ocean going trout that *only* weighs 50 pounds).
