             * * * HOL USERS GROUP MEETING 1991 * * *

Two venues have been volunteered for the 1991 HUG Meeting:

     (1) Luc Claesen offers IMEC (The Inter-University Micro-Electronics
         Centre) in Leuven, Belgium

     (2) Myla Archer and Karl Levitt offer the University of
         California at Davis, California, USA

Following are some details about the two sites:

     (1) LEUVEN:

Leuven is a small town of 40,000 inhabitants. It is
mainly dominated by the Katholieke University of Leuven
(24,000 students). The town has several small restaurants
and pubs that serve the special Belgian beers. Leuven is
located at approximately 25 km from Brussels. Leuven can be
reached from the airport by taxi in about 20 minutes. From
the airport it can also be reached easily by train. IMEC is
located at the University campus of Exact Sciences. The main
research topics addressed at IMEC are (i) VLSI Design
Methodologies, and (ii) Advanced VLSI processing technologies.

Conference facilities are available and workstations can
         be prepared for giving demonstrations.

     (2) DAVIS:

Davis is located in California's Central Valley, about
two hours' drive inland from San Francisco. An attraction
of the meeting is a tour through the wine-growing region
         of California.

For people who want relatively cheap board and lodging,
dormitory rooms and meals are available for about $42 a night
($5.50 extra for singles); this includes very cheap use of the
swimming pool and athletic facilities. There is some
possibility of some funding being made available for travel,
although this will not be known definitely until later on.
There is also a proposal to put together a proceedings.

The exact dates of the meeting are not yet settled, but late summer
or early autumn is the likely time.

Would any HOL users who are interested in attending this year please
state their preference for the site by filling out and e-mailing me
the form below? I will announce the result around the end of January.
Thanks very much.
