Computer Science Researcher at Siemens AG, Munich
           =================================================

Siemens AG is Germany's biggest system house on the electronic
and information technology market. The central research and development
labs of Siemens AG, sited in Munich, are looking for a

                researcher on applied theorem proving

to support our research team working on "reasoning tools for verifying
circuits, protocols and software systems".

We expect that you have

        - MSc or PhD degree in computer science
        - experience with programming in the functional language ML,
        - background in mathematical logic or automated theorem proving,
        - experience with interactive theorem proving in a HOL-like system,
        - interest in the formal verification of hardware/software systems.

You should be able to work together with designers of hard- and software,
and keep contact to the scientific community. You are working in a group of
researchers who are developing tools for verification of circuits and
communication protocols. You are going to do case studies with an existing
theorem prover similar to HOL, and transform your experience into tools
that can easily and profitably be used by designers with little background
in logic. Our aim is to support an integration of design and verification
by a formally based design environment.

The group you are working in has build a prototype circuit verification tool
based on unification in boolean algebra, which is going to be developed into
a product. There is work going on with implementing a concurrency workbench
with emphasis on efficient CCS-based algorithms. Your work will continue a
case study in interactive design and verification using the LAMBDA theorem
prover.

Siemens offers you the salary and social conditions of an internationally
acting companay, and Munich provides you with one of the favorite
living areas in Germany.

If you are interested, please contact

Prof.Dr.W.Buettner,
