The Seaforth Manuscript

This manuscript was compiled by Angus MacKay in about 1840 and is the property of the Piobaireachd Society.

The following index lists the tunes by their modern names.

Front matter, including Angus MacKay's index to the tunes
The Little Finger Tune
Weighing from Land
Welcome Johnnie Back Again
Lament for Red Hector of the Battles
Salute to King James the Sixth
The Blind Piper's Obstinacy
Lament for the Departure of King James
The Bicker
Lament for The Duke of Hamilton
Lament for Colin Roy MacKenzie
The Tune of Strife
Alistair Mor MacDonald's Salute
The Desperate Battle
MacLeod of Raasay's Salute
Ceol Beag

The manuscript contains a number of blank pages, which we didn't bother to scan. The last five pages - the Ceol Beag above - are mostly in a different hand, although Angus MacKay appears to have written the verse on the second last page.

This scan was made by Roderick Cannon and Ross Anderson on Jan 19 2008 from a National Library of Scotland microfilm of the manuscript. The National Library of Scotland states that `These manuscripts are available for non-commercial playing and study uses only, including downloading and printing. Written permission for any other uses (including reproduction, publication, adaptation, manipulation of images, rental and leasing) must be obtained form the Manuscripts Collections Division of the National Library of Scotland.'
