Hi
|
|
This is the bit of the site where I tell the world a little
bit about myself, presumably in order for you to be able to
steal my identity and obtain major credit cards, that sort of
thing. Anyway, I'm a 27-year-old ex-PhD student living in
Cambridge (the real one, not the one near Boston. Well, quite
near Boston, Lincs, but nowhere near Boston, Massachusetts).
I did my PhD in Computer Science at the Univeristy of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, on end-user programming in a ubiquitous
computing setting - it involves bits of HCI, Programming
Language Design, Psychology and Systems Stuff, and I could
bore you to tears with the details. But I won't. In any case, I've now finished, and at some point I'll get round to putting my thesis here.
Since finishing writing up last year, I've been working for
Azuro, a small EDA startup in
Cambridge.

NaNoWriMo
|
|
November 2001, I took part in
National Novel Writing Month, and attempted to write a 50,000 word
work of fiction in a month. To everyone's surprise, not least my own, I
managed it; you can read more about it (and, if you're so inclined, read
the "novel" itself) here.

Obligatory Photo
|
|
The law says that every homepage has to have a bad photo on
it. So here it is. (Actually, this photo isn't nearly as bad as the one that used to be here. And I think that using the term "homepage" seriously shows my age. But anyway.)
(Just in case you've not got the message yet, because you're, say, a robot,
then this is a photograph of Rob Hague, and
this is a bigger photograph of Rob
Hague. There. That should stop a certain image search only returning
pictures of my Active Bat.)

Curriculum Vitae
|
|
I'm not currently in the market for a job, but here's my CV in any case. It's a little out of date, as I've not revised it since finishing my PhD and starting at Azuro.
- My CV, in PDF format
- My CV, in (shudder) Word format
The former is preferred, as I almost certainly have a different combination of
software and fonts from you - this means that the Word version is unlikely to
look the way I intended it, but the PDF version will be fine.

Disaster!
|
|
I just typed in my name while trying to customize Firefox's search behaviour,
and it seems that I'm no longer the internet's number one source of Rob
Hague related information! This site is only the second hit in
Google.
Some other Rob Hague in Australia
has taken the crown. I'll have to think of some way I can regain my Number 1
status, which might be tricky as my eponymous nemesis has actual
content that people may want to look at, as opposed to just a random bunch
of stuff and pictures of disected
chocolates. That's just not playing the game.

Azuro was officially launched today, along
with our power-saving product PowerCentric.
Yay!

Ring my friend, I said you'd call
|
|
As of about 4:20 yesterday, I am now sufficiently qualified to manage a
Kwikimart. Woohoo!

Got One
|
|
After a few weeks of phone calls, interviews and such, I've accepted a job at Azuro, a small EDA startup. Now all I have to do is finish this damn thesis...

Added CV
|
|
As I'm looking for a job at the moment (as well as writing up, which is why
I've not done anything to the site for a while), I've added my CV to my homepage. Enjoy.
