CG Summary

About

The analysis of the results of proteomics experiments is sometimes difficult due to problems with the quick annotation of newly identified proteins. Here we describe CG Summary, a program which aids researchers who study protein interaction networks of the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. The program is able to quickly extract relevant gene ontology information from FlyBase (http://www.flybase.org) of proteins identified using mass spectrometry analysis of purified protein mixtures. The result is a rapid generation of enriched summaries that enable researchers to make use of available ontology when assessing the functions and interactions of proteins.

Get CG Summary ver 1.0 (27 May 2008) here.
How to install:
  1. Save the file on your harddrive and unzip anywhere.
  2. A folder named 'CG_Summary' will be created. Navigate to this folder and run 'CG Summary.bat' or 'CG Summary.sh' to execute the program. Example Mascot .xml input files and sample output files are included in the archive.
  3. If you find that nothing happens when clicking on 'CG Summary.bat' then you probably don't have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed, or your JRE is too old (the program was compiled with Java 1.5). Also note that the software needs to have access to the internet.
