This page was started a few hours after I got the first machine,
and developed as I learnt more.
As soon as it was working sufficiently, it was taken back by its user,
so I no longer have access to the machine
(unless it happens to be on the internet, which is rare).
This report is listed at TuxMobil - Linux on laptops, notebooks, PDAs and mobile phones under Sony
As I didn't have a floppy, and someone had just burned a RH 7.2 CD, I used that. I did a custom install, partitioned the disk as required, and asked just for Laptop and Network.
After the user had been using WXP for a while, he came back reporting that X would not start. The logs showed `(EE) RADEON(0): Failed to detect the panel size.' so the VESA driver was used instead.
It always reports `AC on-line, no system battery', and `apm -s' causes it to stop, but it will not restart, requiring a reset (small hole in base).
The battery lasts about 100 minutes, but should do better with working APM.
