The St. Matthew Passion

My friend and office-mate, Mark Staples reckons that Bach was "onto something with this work", that it "doesn't quite make it", but that "he coulda been a contender".

I'm less reserved in my praise. :-) In fact, I think it's absolutely wonderful.
