• Chat with other students and staff
• Attend Happy Hour -- a major transferable skills event
• Attend seminars from other research groups
• Investigate summer schools
  • can be expensive, but there are scholarships to apply for
• Attend conferences
  • having a paper accepted increases chances of getting costs
  • even if not accepted you get feedback from referees
• Lab has some funds - your supervisor may help you find support

• Your help, if asked, will be much appreciated!
  • tell potential donors about your research
  • attend talks by potential doners
  • attend events (e.g. dinners)
