[2002 - 2003] MSc in Telecommunications, Queen Mary University of London. Supervisors: Professor Laurie Cuthbert and Professor Manuel Duarte.
[1996 - 2001] Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, University of Aveiro, Portugal

[Other courses]
[2008-2009] Teaching Associate Programme (course for training in supervising and lecturing in Higher Education). Outcomes: Higher Education Academy Associate; Teaching Portfolio.
[2008-2009] Management of Technology and Innovation course, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Attendance only.

Research
[PhD] The recipe for my PhD is a mix of these ingredients: IPTV, optical networks, multicast, traffic engineering. I am trying to mix them in the precise quantities to try to get something, let's say, relevant.

[Other interests] I am broadly interested in everything that has to do with networking systems. Both from the EE (Electrical Eng.) and CS (Computer Science) point of view. If you check the call for papers SIGCOMM and INFOCOM (my CS-side), or OFC and ECOC (my EE-side, nowadays very directed towards optical networks), you'll see the many topics of interest to me. I can name a few I am particularly interested in: network architectures, protocols and algorithms; traffic measurement and traffic engineering; multimedia networking; routing and switching; optical networking; sensor networks; green networking. Et cetera.

[OPNET] Some time ago I used OPNET in my research. More information on my use of this simulator can be found in my OPNET webpage.
