The mobile phone has evolved from a simple communication device to a mobile computing device. This new technology unlocks many new possibilities for learners, teachers and assessors. In this talk I'll explore some of the capabilities of the new generation of Internet-connected smartphones with reference to learning applications we have built, discuss the implications and show some new innovations which will be hitting commodity handsets in the near future.
The talk featured a couple of video clips
I also demonstrated the Learn! and EduCreate Android applications which we built as part of our undergraduate summer project programme. More information on the applications and the programme itself is available here.
