A note about downloading online papers
Most of our papers were originally prepared using LaTeX and are distributed as
Postscript (.ps) or PDF (.pdf) files. Postscript files can be sent to a
Postscript capable printer or viewed using Ghostview, various versions of which
are freely downloadable. If a file has an extension .gz or .Z it must first be
uncompressed using WinZip, gunzip or a similar utility. (Note that if you use
ftp to transfer compressed files, the mode must be set to BINARY.) In some
circumstances, when you download a .gz file, WinZip uncompresses it but leaves
the .gz extension in place. If this happens, you can simply manually rename
the file to have the correct extension (i.e., .ps).
Files in PDF format can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which
can be downloaded for free from
Adobe.
If you have problems downloading a file, please let me know.
