Mixed Analog/Digital Simulation (Verilog-AMS)

This slide not examinable in 2015/16

Hybrid System simulations: typically a digital (embedded) controller interacts with analogue plant.

Example: Vechicle automatic braking systems.

We need to be able to combine digital (event-driven) simulation with analogue models, such as fluid flow FDTD models.

Relevant tools: Verilog-AMS, VHDL-AMS, Modelica, Simulink and FMI.

Problem: Remember Zeno's paradox, with Achilles and the tortoise? “And so you can never catch up,” the Tortoise concluded sympathetically. Well, now we know how to do a computer simulation of that story: ball bouncing at infinite frequency. »Functional Mock Up Interface
