- dividiti Cambridge. Contact: Anton Lokhmotov
dividiti is a Cambridge-based startup on an exciting mission to enable efficient, reliable and cheap computing everywhere! And we do mean “everywhere”: from tiny computers embedded in "smart things" to enormous supercomputers. We believe that optimising computing, i.e. increasing its efficiency and decreasing its cost, is critical to innovation and well-being. We also believe in optimising human efforts to produce reliable and reusable knowledge, which is why we are crusading for reproducible and collaborative R&D.
Together with a growing community across industry and academia, we are developing Collective Knowledge (CK), an open methodology for optimising computer systems and human efforts. Similar to Wikipedia, CK invites a broad community to share representative programs, data sets, tools and predictive models as reusable components, crowd-source and reproduce experiments, and apply predictive analytics to continuously grow optimisation knowledge. For example, we are collaborating with ARM on rigorous and reproducible performance analysis for designing more efficient systems, and with General Motors on optimising deep-learning based algorithms for autonomous driving.
We are inviting like-minded engineers to join us! If you are looking to work on "bleeding edge" computer systems' R&D with a far-reaching societal impact, do get in touch!

Semmle is an exciting spin-out from the University of Oxford. Our platform and analytics allow our customers to improve their software development process using a pure data-driven approach. Semmle software provides automated feedback to individual developers, informs team managers about their team's performance, and provides executive officers with an overview of the state of various projects in an organisation.
In order to do this effectively, we've developed our own query language (a type of object-oriented datalog) and database technology that allow for writing queries over source code. Bugs and violations of good coding practice are encoded as queries, which makes it incredibly easy to find other instances of known bugs or create customer-specific solutions.
Query results are an objective and unique measure for the quality of a code base and of the contributions by developers. This measure is of critical importance for organisations that aim to produce high-quality software, and it allows taking well-informed (data-driven) decisions. For example, our platform helped NASA land their Curiosity Rover on Mars (see semmle.com/nasa).
The academic force in us is strong, which is why we publish a lot of our work at prime conferences and in high-impact journals (see semmle.com/publications). We're always looking for talented enthusiastic graduates to join our team in the city centre of Oxford - as an employee or intern. Are you passionate about programming languages, compilers, parsers, database technologies, data mining, or machine learning? Will you help land the next Mars Rover? Drop us an email, and we'll tell you more!

Telensa is a leading wireless monitoring and control system supplier with a strong market presence in the development of smart cites, notably in the remote control and management of street lighting and parking. We were established in 2005 as a part of independent electronic design consultancy Plextek Ltd. Plextek’s wireless technology is used in medical, security, vehicle tracking and smart metering applications. As an independent company, Telensa's initial emphasis was on addressing the needs of the street lighting industry, particularly the fast-growing central management systems (CMS) market, in which it is now the leading player. Its solution, called PLANet® for lighting, is a bi-directional radio-enabled system that allows full control and monitoring of street lighting across a wide area. It is now being used and installed by many of the UK’s major local authorities across a significant area of the UK.
Wireless monitoring and control is helping these authorities to save millions of pounds. However, the idea behind such systems – known as the Internet of Things (IoT) – has many other applications. IoT refers to objects able to communicate with other objects and people but also to respond to their requests or needs. IoT underpins the PLANet solution, which is now being adapted for new uses: ultra-scalable, private network solutions that enable immediate monetization of IoT applications from day one. The first of these new uses is PARKet, Telensa’s wireless parking space monitoring system. PARKet detects cars, monitors parking space availability and delivers real time information to drivers about where to find a parking space. PARKet has already been rolled out in Moscow where it has reduced traffic congestion by over a quarter.
