The TIME Project

(Please note: The TIME project ended in 2011 and these pages are no longer updated)

The TIME (Transport Information Monitoring Environment) project is an umbrella framework for research, application development and deployment of transport monitoring systems in the city of Cambridge. The initial project announcement occurred towards the end of 2004, and has the backing of a number of large industrial partners.

The research core of TIME is TIME-EACM (Event Architecture and Context Management), funded by EPSRC under the first Wines call (Wired and Wireless Intelligent Networks). The project started in October 2005 and ran until March 2011. A small Impact grant continues the work. The collaborators are the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and Department of Engineering, the Computer Laboratory at Oxford University, and BT Research as project partner.

EPSRC funding supported four Research Associates (RAs) at Cambridge (for 5, 5, 3 and 3 years) and a PhD student and one RA (2 years) at Oxford. BT funded an RA to be based at Adastral Park, Ipswich. In total, more than ten researchers are involved with the project. As the work progressed we interacted with a number of companies and Cambridge County and City Councils.

This website also hosts a private area which is only accessible to project members and partners.
