Research support

These pages list the various funding sources available for research projects, fellowships, meetings and travel, industrial collaboration, and commercialisation.

Current open funding opportunities include:

  • Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellowships These support partnership building with specific developing countries. The scheme offers younger group leaders (those with up to 15 years post-PhD experience) in China, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico and Turkey 3 years funding (salary top up, research and travel support) to develop collaborations with leading groups in the UK. The UK partner is named on the grant as a Co-Applicant. Closes 18th March.

The EPSRC has released outline details of their upcoming Healthcare Technologies Grand Challenges scheme, which will include 'using real time information to support self-managed of health and well-being' as one of the four challenge areas. There is an overall launch event on 14th April, for which they are now inviting Expressions of Interest to attend. Indicative funding calls are:

  • For Early Career Researchers - launch in March
  • For researcher-user collaboration - to be announced in March/April
  • To establish UK networks around each Grand Challenge area - launch in June
