Georgia E. Athanasiadou is an Industrial Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Communications Engineering of the University of Cambridge, UK, working on fixed wireless broadband systems. Her project is funded by Cambridge Broadband Ltd. Georgia received her MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 1992 and her PhD from the University of Bristol, UK, in 1997. From 1996 until 1999 she was a Research Associate and then a Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. She then joined Adaptive Broadband, in Cambridge, UK, as a Senior Systems Engineer, until 2001. As part of her research, Georgia has developed, investigated and evaluated novel indoor and outdoor ray tracing propagation models for wireless communications and has published extensively on the topic. Her research interests include network planning issues for different air interface techniques, with particular emphasis on future generation systems.
