Active Floor
The Active Floor is a square grid of conventional carpet tiles, supported at the corners by cylindrical load cells which are instrumented to give us the total vertical force. We currently have an array of 10 sensors mounted in two rows of five sensors in the main corridor of the DTG. The sensors are mounted unobtrusively below the suspended floor.
Publications
Previous instances of the Active Floor have formed the basis for the following publications:
M.D. Addlesee, A.H. Jones, F. Livesey and F.S. Samaria, "The ORL Active Floor", in IEEE Personal Communications 1997 Volume 4(5) pp.35--51
