Members of the group have designed and implemented:- BCPL, a fore-runner of C and arguably the first highly retargetable compiler in 1966
- Tripos, a portable operating system
- MCPL, a typeless language with pattern matching
- Norcroft Compiler Suite, a high quality optimising ANSI C compiler
- Codemist Lisp, used as a small and fast implementation basis for Reduce and IBM's Axiom symbolic manipulation systems
- Valgrind, a system for debugging and profiling Linux programs
