Connecting while travelling
Connecting to the Lab from laptops and "foreign" machines.
When you're away from home (that is, from your domicile or from the Lab), connection is as tricky as it gets. You have two options:
- If you have your own laptop, and anticipate that it will be
possible to connect while you're away, you should use
ssh, just as if you
were connecting from home, or whatever.
Important: Remember to create a private key before you set off.
- If you have been told that you will be able to use your host's
machines, you need to create a one-time password
pad to use while you're away. It is not safe to
install an ssh private key on someone else's machine.
Important: Remember to create your one-time passwords before you set off.
