Aims


The aims of this lecture are to welcome students to the Department and to introduce them to the course and the ways in which the Department works.


Lecture


What Computer Science is and how it is studied in Cambridge. General structure of the course. Rules and customs of the Laboratory. How to get the most out of studying in Cambridge. Lectures and supervisions. Balancing theory and practice. Taking opportunities to gain insight as well as getting qualifications.


Objective


At the end of the lecture students should be able to embark upon a productive course of study within the Department.
